Temporal variations in growth and condition index of kalandue clams (Polymesoda erosa, Solander 1786) in Kendari Bay, Southeast Sulawesi

Abstract The growth and condition index of kalandue shellfish in the mangrove forest Kendari Bay, Southeast Sulawesi is not fully known. This study aims to determine ( Polymesoda erosa ) Sulawesi. Kalandue mussels were taken randomly throughout waters using a shovel as deep 20 cm aquatic substrate. measured length wet weight was caliper digital scale with an accuracy 0.5 mm 0.01 g, respectively. shells separated by sex dried oven at 70oC for 72 hours. weighed dry shell analytical balance 0.0001g. length-weight relationship data analyzed linear regression Mann Whitney test. results showed that males females isometric conditions values 3.08 3.05, lowest b value found February highest May. male female caladue significantly different 9.26±5.50 6.75±4.90, experienced two peaks, namely May September. Furthermore, increased along increase body size (shell width).
